Privacy Policy for Grams

Last updated 12 August 2026

Grams collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no server. The app contains no networking code at all, so there is no mechanism by which your information could be sent anywhere.

What Grams stores, and where

Everything you log, which is foods, amounts, daily goals, skipped days and your reminder setting, is written to a single file inside the app's private container on your iPhone. It is covered by iOS file protection and is included in your device backup if you use iCloud Backup or a local encrypted backup. It is never uploaded to us, because there is no "us" to upload it to.

Body weight

During setup Grams offers to suggest a daily protein goal from your body weight. That number is used for the arithmetic on that screen and then discarded. It is never written to disk, never stored, and never leaves the screen you typed it on.

Apple Health

Grams can read and write one kind of Health data: dietary protein. Both directions are optional, off until you turn them on, and controlled by iOS permission prompts you can revoke at any time in Settings ▸ Health ▸ Data Access.

Health data is used only to display and record your protein inside Grams. It is never transmitted off your device, never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with anyone, including us.

Notifications

If you turn on the daily reminder, Grams schedules local notifications on your device. Nothing is sent through a server and no push token exists.

Exports

The Export feature writes a .json file containing your data and hands it to the iOS share sheet. Where that file then goes is entirely your choice. Once you share it with another app or service, that destination's privacy policy applies, not this one.

Children

Grams is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top.
